Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal on Swiggy ousting him from Shark Tank India

Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal will not return to Shark Tank India Season 4 due to Swiggy's sponsorship and demands for his removal. Goyal discussed Zomato's rapid growth in quick commerce and refrained from commenting on Swiggy's upcoming IPO. The rivalry between Zomato and Swiggy has escalated due to competitive pressures.

Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal has said that he will not return as a "shark" on the fourth season of the popular reality show, Shark Tank India. According to Goyal, his exclusion is a result of Swiggy, his biggest rival food delivery company, becoming a sponsor of the upcoming season and demanding his removal as part of the sponsorship deal.

In a fireside chat with the Economic Times, Goyal said that Swiggy's sponsorship was the reason he opted out of the show.

When asked about his thoughts on Swiggy's upcoming IPO, Goyal said he was not aware of the matter and was not focusing on it. Goyal also discussed Zomato's quick commerce business and expressed surprise at its rapid growth. He admitted that he had not expected such significant expansion in the quick commerce space. The rivalry between Zomato and Swiggy has intensified in recent times, as the two companies compete in the food and grocery delivery market. Swiggy's decision to block Goyal from Shark Tank reflects the competitive nature of their relationship.

Shark Tank India Season 4

Shark Tank India, which airs on Sony Television, has recently begun shooting for its fourth season. The returning sharks include Anupam Mittal, Aman Gupta, Namita Thapar, Piyush Bansal and Ritesh Agarwal. Goyal made his debut as a shark in the third season of the show. It is widely believed that Swiggy's decision to block Goyal from Shark Tank India 4 is linked to its upcoming IPO. Swiggy's updated draft red herring prospectus, DRHP, indicates that the company aims to raise Rs 3,750 crore, of which Rs 950 crore will be allocated for brand marketing and awareness initiatives to expand its reach and attract more customers. Neither Swiggy, nor Zomato nor Sony Television commented for this story.
